Meet Andrea Layton

I graduated from the University of Rochester with a Bachelor of Arts in both Psychology and Health and Society in 2002 and with a Master of Science in School Counseling in 2004. In 2004, I passed the National Board Certification exam and became a National Board-Certified Counselor. 

 

Since earning my Master's Degree, I have worked as a Professional School Counselor for over 20 years.  Most of that time I have worked in the state of Virginia as a High School Counselor working with students in grades 9-12.  I have been a caseload Counselor (assigned to students by their last names) and worked as a College and Career Counselor, assisting students with post-secondary planning helping them move on to the workforce, military, trade schools, community colleges, and 4-year colleges/universities.

 

I have extensive knowledge and experience regarding the college application process to include assisting students with The Common Application, SAT/ACT testing, and the NCAA Academic Eligibility process for student athletes.  My strengths are building relationships with the students I work with and helping them plan for their future goals.
