My Story
I have lived in North Carolina my entire life. Born and raised in High Point, I went to college at UNC Charlotte, played Division I soccer and earned a BA in Communications and MA in English. I seriously considered becoming a lawyer because I love argument and research, but I surprised myself when, on a whim, I took on a part-time teaching position at Central Piedmont Community College. I have been a full-time English instructor there for almost 25 years, creating course curriculum, serving as Discipline Chair and mentoring many part-time teachers.
Working with students, whether in the classroom or at EWC, is truly my passion. I help advise students in the best academic courses and extracurricular activities for college and transfer admissions. I started out as an Essay Review Specialist here at EWC four years ago, moved into my Operations Management position in 2024 and I am excited to work more with students one-on-one as an Educational Consultant. Even my own two daughters received guidance through EWC's Junior Services with Elizabeth to find their best college fit. It is exciting to help students reach their full potential and feel empowered to make decisions, complete their best work and navigate their college journey.
