Colleen Scholars

The Colleen Scholars Scholarship Program was designed in memory of our CEO and Founder’s sister, Colleen Brockway. This college prep program is designed for students in their junior year of high school.

You don't have to figure out the college process on your own.

Here at EWC College Consulting, we coach students through the college admissions process and help them decide on the right path for college. We help students be successful — and BELONG — at the college of their choice.

EWC has always helped students pro bono, and it is part of our mission to provide free support to students who would not be able to afford one-on-one services otherwise. Now, we want to expand those efforts through the Colleen Scholars Scholarship Program.

The process for applying to college can be overwhelming! In this free program, students will learn:

  • how to select which colleges to apply to

  • how to write solid essays so their application stands out

  • how (and when) to assemble all the materials needed for college applications

  • how (and where) to access additional resources to make the college process more accessible and affordable

There will also be peer support activities to help students lean on each other during this admissions journey. You don't have to figure this out all on your own.

What You'll Learn

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How involved are parents?
Parents are as involved as they would like to be. However, we tend to get more results when we can meet 1:1 with students. This is a commitment for students and the quality of our services depends on the active participation of our students.
  • How do we meet? Virtually? In person?
We primarily meet online using Zoom. If you prefer to meet in-person, additional fees may apply (NC residents only).
  • Do you only help people in NC or throughout the US?
We help students throughout the United States! Our clients have come from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, Ohio, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Michigan, Washington State and Idaho.
  • When should we start?
Our answer to this question is always -- the sooner, the better. We offer short-term services and 1:1 sessions for grades 8-10. However, the ideal time to begin 1:1 coaching sessions is in the summer before junior year.
  • What services offer the most attention?
Junior services are all-inclusive and the most hands-on program we have. 10th grade Short-Term services are an excellent way to get established with EWC and get priority for Junior services.
  • How do we pay?
Credit card or bank drafts are welcome! Please schedule a complimentary consultation to get a custom proposal with detailed pricing.
  • What if our student is scared about starting college? How do you help them get started?
This is our specialty! At EWC, we customize each of our 1:1 packages to fit the needs of the student. We do our best to alleviate the stress involved with college planning by offering a fun and productive environment with realistic goals and options for the best college fit.
  • Do you offer payment plans?
Yes. Our Junior services can be split in two equal payments 5 months apart. However, please ask if you need a different payment schedule. We do not usually offer payment plans for Short-Term services.

About Colleen

Picture from EWC College Consulting.jpg

This scholarship program is dedicated to my beloved sister, Colleen Brockway. Colleen died last September of a very rare cancer called EHE. She was only 57 years old, and she was the best sister I could have ever had.

Before she died, we discussed this idea. Colleen said she would like the Colleen Scholars students to be avid readers, dedicated to giving back to their community, and wanted students who would "invite anyone to sit with them at lunch." She prioritized kindness as the top consideration for these scholarship recipients.
